Daisy Jones and The Six

I have been dying for this series to come out. I read the book years ago. It was one of those books you read in a day. Grabs you quickly and you just can't stop. All the sex, drugs, and rock and roll based in the seventies… yes, please.

When you read the book, I promise you may find yourself googling the band because the book gives you the feeling that they really exist. They remind me of Fleetwood Mac, and Daisy and Billy are just the kind of messed up uber talented 70’s celebrities we love to see.

First of all, I have to say that loved the cast, especially the women. Billy was the only one I wasn't so sure about. Honestly, he was the only one throughout the series I just wasn't falling for. Let's get into why.

So the first three episodes… I was so excited for. My husband was out of town. I had a great day in the shop. I came home ready to get to it, and honestly, I was disappointed.

The book grabs your attention and keeps you on the edge of your seat, but those first three episodes felt like they took my favorite rock and roll rebels and put them in a 70’s-inspired after-school special. It was missing the rock and roll grit that was so prevalent in the book.

Episodes 4,5, and 6 were much better, but still too PG. I wasn't buying the connection between Daisy and Billy. I saw way more of a connection between Billy and his wife, and also it didn’t seem like Billy was completely sober. But I did love the fashion, and these episodes were more exciting than the first three.

Now episodes 7,8,9, and 10, were the ones. These episodes definitely got more to the behind the scenes of their rock and roll lifestyle. The fashion in these episodes was to die for; I even spotted a Spell dress on Camila. What I really loved about these episodes is the emotional component; I feel like I had much more of a connection to the characters.

The last episode was great. I even shed a little tear.. just like with the book. One major difference between the book and the show is that I felt like Camila was much more of a main character with how much she supported the band and kept them together through everything. Even with her own feelings for Billy and his possible love for Daisy, she still supported the band. I feel like in the book, I got wrapped up in Billy and Daisy, but in the series, Camila came across as a strong heroine.

Overall, I did like the series. The fashion and the female characters made me love it more. But I will say, if you liked the series, read the book. Then let's talk.

Of course, while watching the series, I had to put together some Daisy Jones-inspired outfits. As I said before, one of my favorite things about the show was the fashion, so I had fun recreating and playing around with some looks that I think Daisy Jones herself would have loved.

This first look is probably one of my favorites. I think it might be something Daisy would wear on the tour bus, traveling from city to city. It’s casual but still has that iconic 70s-inspired carefree, edgy look. The main parts of this outfit are the black ruched Indah top and these black Rolla’s Jeans flares. I love the base of this outfit. However, it’s the accessories that really make it something Daisy Jones would wear. These white Desert Dreamer cowboy boots scream Daisy, and I love pairing the black and white contrast with this make-shift amazonite bolo tie. I made the tie with a cream leather strap I had and this lovely amazonite ring from the shop. The pop of color draws your attention. And since Daisy is always wearing a jacket, we thought we’d add this Jen’s Pirate Booty Famous Jacket. To fully complete the look, we added the Lovely Bird Dallas Hat in antique white and this Moroccan weekend duffel bag that reminds me of the 70s.

This next look reminds me of Camila. She’s the queen of long flowy dresses and embroidery. As soon as I saw this Nine Lives Bazaar dress, I knew it would be something she’d wear. I love this dress for spring and summer because it’s so light and girly. Yet, it still has some of that 70s nostalgia. We wanted to keep this look simple because Camila was never one for over-the-top outfits. Her style is simple yet effortlessly chic. However, we had to add these Windsor-style sunglasses and this leather Bee’s Box bag. They’re simple accessories, but they pull the entire outfit together. For shoes, we added these wedges I’ve had in my closet forever, but if you want to spice up this look a bit you can add some fun boots or elegant heels.

The third outfit we kept simple. We thought it might be something Daisy would wear recording in the studio. Keeping true to her signature casual look, we paired these Rolla’s Jeans duster shorts and a simple white top. Of course, Daisy would dress up this combo with some cowboy boots, and a dramatic hat like this Lovely Bird Dallas hat in dust. Again, we couldn’t resist pairing this look with these Crap sunglasses, and our rendition of Daisy’s iconic bangles
