Meadow’s Easy Last-Minute Halloween Costumes
Halloween is right around the corner, and Halloweekend is upon us! If you’ve had a busy fall like we’ve had, then planning what you’re going to wear for Halloween can seem like a stressful last-minute endeavor. And you can’t show up to the Halloween party costume-less, but do you really want to spend money on a costume that you’re ultimately going to throw away? After all, it’s estimated that 35 million Halloween costumes are thrown away every in the United States alone. But if you’re like us, and you find yourself costume-less the day before your Halloween celebrations, don’t worry. We have you covered.
We’ve put together some of the best Halloween costumes from items that you can wear in the shop, so you don’t feel guilty about spending money on cheaply and unethically made pieces that will ultimately end up in the landfill. We’re doing Halloween, but we’ve pulled together easy Halloween costumes that are also sustainable.
First up, we have our Flashdance costume. Growing up, I loved this movie so much, so when Dani suggested that we create a costume for it, I was on board! If you’re looking for one of the easiest Halloween costumes you can make, it doesn’t get much easier than this. We paired our Full Moon Made Me Do It Boxy Sweatshirt with a black body suit and some black leg warmers. And that’s it! You just have to make sure that you’re prepared to dance to “Maniac” if it comes on at your Halloween party.
If you want to take advantage of the Barbie trend, but don’t want to be just another girl wearing pink at the party, then check out our Boho Barbie circa 1967. Boho Barbie is the epitome of cool. She cares about sustainable fashion, and she’s down for whatever. For our Meadow Collective babes in colder locations, this is the perfect costume for you because it includes a coat! However, if you’re in Miami, this costume doubles as the perfect outfit when we get our two days of cold weather a year. The main pieces of this costume are the Spell Cha Cha Quilted Tunic Dress, the Spell Cha Cha Quilted Jacket, these blonde tortoise Crap sunglasses, and this mini bucket bag from Ecru. To complete this outfit, we used the belt that comes with the tunic dress as a headband! And you can add whichever boots you have in your closet to complete the look. What I love most about this costume is how you can wear the pieces again. Instead of throwing away another cheap costume, you’re investing in quality pieces that will last years.
If doing Halloween with a bestie, then you might want to be Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie from “The Simple Life.” This is the perfect costume for the gals who are loving the Y2K revival. Plus, if you have a dog, this is your excuse to take them to whatever party you’re going to. On the left, we have Lindsey as Paris, and to create her look we paired the Spell Dolly Mini Skirt with the Rolla’s Halter Vest and accessorized with the ADA Franki corset and our Mila Capri bandana. You can wear whatever shoes you like, but we love this look with some knee-high boots or kitten heels. On the right, we have Dani as Nicole. To create her look we have the Spell Sienna Tri Bikini top, and these overalls from Rolla’s. We also added some very dainty jewelry that we think Nicole Richie would love. Again, we think Nicole’s look would go perfectly with some kitten heels.
Another costume I love that transitions easily to something you would wear every day is our Little Bo Peep costume. This costume is super easy to make and almost effortless. It just requires accessorizing this lovely Coven & Co. set. The main parts of this outfit are this dainty puff-sleeved crop and its matching maxi skirt from Coven & Co. We also added in these new Moonrise Jaci Cowboy boots that we are obsessed with and this Summer Lovin’ Bucket Hat. Feel free to add any dainty jewelry to complete the look or check out what jewelry we have! Find yourself a wooden crook or stick, and you’ve got your Little Bo Peep look.
I had to save my favorite costume for last. Aside from how the individual pieces in this costume will make great additions to your wardrobe, I love how creative and comfortable this costume is. You could easily dance all night, trick or treat, or jump from party to party in this costume without counting down the minutes until you can go home. The main pieces in this costume are the Spell Foxglove Embroidered Shirt, these Rolla’s East Coast Flares in Chestnut, and this high-neck top in maple—but you could easily choose to wear one of our many graphic tees for this look too! To accessorize, we threw in this ADA Infinity Belt and this adorable Lovely Bird hat! We chose to pair this look with some knee boots, but any boots will work just fine!
