Meadow's Top 5 Summer Picks

I love summer. It’s one of my favorite seasons. There’s just something about the sun setting at eight o’clock that puts you in a good mood. And more so, there’s something about summer fashion that makes me super excited to get up every day and pick out an outfit.  

Of course, Miami's heat and humidity are no joke, but I love experimenting with summer styles: light, airy fabrics; warm tones; earthy florals; gold jewelry. Summer fashion is everything you need and want to wear for that boat day, brunch with friends, your morning walk, or a trip to the farmer’s market. It’s a chance to wear the things you dreamed about wearing in winter, counting down the days until summer came. 

With August fast approaching, I thought I’d share some of my favorite summer picks from the shop. All of these items remind me of long days in the sun, spending time with my family and friends, and creating those core summer memories. 

Friends of Friends Hats 

My first favorite summer pick is these Friends of Friends hats that we just got in. They’re perfect for days at the beach, boat days, and they make a great addition to any outfit for a little extra boho flair. And with the heat like it is now, I love a good hat to protect my skin from the sun and hide a bad hair day. We currently only have six styles in stock, from the super chic Puerta Vallerta visor—that’s handwoven by artisans in Mexico and made from 100% palm— to the wide-brimmed Panama-style Belle hat—made in the US out of 100% Ecuadorian-grown Toquilla straw.

The Flower Power Set: 

I don’t usually carry activewear, but I saw this set and the prints in this collection, I knew I had to have the Flower Power Vintage Komodo Crop and the Flower Power Vintage Kavala Legging in my shop. I absolutely love the print of this set. The warm, neutral tones with pops of peachy orange and dandelion yellow are perfect for this time of year. And the pieces themselves are great for whatever workout you’re doing whether that’s catching some waves or just going on your morning walk. Made of a quick-dry, UV-repellent, anti-bacterial material, this set has everything you want from activewear, and you’re not rushing to change out of it after your workout. The leggings are high-waisted and give you a nice silhouette without digging into your sides, and the crop offers full coverage and keeps everything in place if you know what I mean.

Solar Eclipse Clips: 

When I first opened this order in the box, I was shocked and confused. I picked the clips up and examined them carefully. “This must be a mistake. Sure, they’re super cute, but I would never order something that’s made of plastic,” I thought. But then, I remembered that I had ordered these, and they weren’t made of plastic but rather cellulose acetate, a biodegradable material made from recycled wood pulp.

I love these clips for summer for a few reasons. Number one: they’re biodegradable and eco-friendly, so they’re better for the environment than conventional, plastic clips. Number two: It’s hot in Miami! And I hate the feeling of my hair sticking to my neck and back, but I also hate the dent in my hair when I have it in a ponytail for a long time. So, these clips offer a convenient solution that lets me put my hair up without leaving any dents. Number three: Obviously, they are beyond cute. The yin and yang design adds a little extra flair to any outfit, and the mini heart clips are perfect for some Y2K outfit inspiration.

Spell Meadowland Linen Sundress in Hazelnut: 

You guys know I couldn’t make any “favorites list” that doesn’t include something from Spell. This dress is perfect for summer with its warm, earthy tones and pop of floral color. But another thing I love about it is its versatility. Dress it up with some heels or wedges and jewelry for an evening wedding or dress it down with some clogs for a trip to the farmer’s market or a chill brunch with your girlfriends. 

The bodice of the dress is flattering and designed to accentuate your silhouette, and depending on the occasion you can opt to show a little more skin by unbuttoning the top. Made with 100% linen and unlined, it’s light and breezy, perfect for those hot summer days. 

Spell dresses > everything else in life

Heather Kahn Tulum Crescent Necklace:  

I’m absolutely loving my summer order from Heather Kahn. Filled with freshwater pearls, pops of color, and gold accents, my latest haul is the epitome of summer jewelry. But I really love the Tulum Crescent necklace. The freshwater pearls give the necklace a mermaid-esque quality that will surely dress up any outfit. And the crescent pendant carved from mother of pearl only adds to that vibe. I love pairing this necklace with neutral tones because I think it adds a nice flair to an otherwise monochrome color palette. For more of a color pop, check out Heather Kahn’s Nasturtium necklace—reminds me of the Amalfi Coast—or the Greek Islands Collar Necklace which gives big Santorini vibes.
