Our Sustainable Brands Featuring Nine Lives Bazaar
When someone walks into my shop, I want them to think that Meadow Collective is the best boho boutique in Miami. No, actually I want them to think that Meadow Collective is the best boho boutique, period. I take pride in all of the items I’ve curated and put into my shop. I’ve handpicked every piece with care, taking into consideration how the piece was made along with its aesthetic.
So, when I bring a new brand into my shop, I make sure to do my research. The new brand has to be sustainably made, promote fair working conditions for garment workers, use high-quality materials that will last decades, and of course, make unique bohemian-style pieces that capture the true spirit of a Meadow Collective girl.
And that’s why I’m excited to announce a new brand that we’ll be carrying! Nine Lives Bazaar is an Australian brand that makes amazing, vintage-inspired pieces with the environment in mind. And besides the fun 70s style prints and retro designs, Nine Lives Bazaar makes each of its pieces with the idea that they’ll be able to last generation after generation.
Made to “revive the essence of the bygone era,” Nine Lives Bazaar takes care to only use chosen fibers that are sustainably made and will last long enough to be passed down from one generation to the next. Some of the chosen fibers that Nine Lives Bazaar uses in all of its collections are ECOVERO™, LENZING TENCEL™, and ECONYL®. Its ECOVERO™ fiber is derived from certified sustainably harvested wood pulp, making it super soft, lightweight, and environmentally friendly. And while Its LENZING TENCEL™ fiber may sound artificial, it’s actually also derived from sustainably harvested wood pulp. And lastly, Nine Lives Bazaar’s ECONYL® fibers are made from fishing net waste and other waste that’s headed for the landfill, allowing for pollution to become beautiful, recycled pieces.
Moving from sustainability to ethics, Nine Lives Bazaar believes that you can’t have one without the other. Clothes that are sustainably produced but involve the abuse of garment workers are not really sustainable. So, to remain environmentally and socially responsible, Nine Lives Bazaar only partners with garment factories that have ethical procedures in place, like standardized safe working conditions, breaks, and fair wages. By only partnering with these factories, Nine Lives Bazaar is combatting fast fashion and taking a stand against unconscious consumerism.
Furthermore, Nine Lives Bazaar is committed to reducing its ecological footprint. By offering its consumers transparency about its production practices, Nine Lives Bazaar is creating an atmosphere in the fashion world that prioritizes quality over quantity. And that’s ultimately what I look for in a brand.
Because, in reality, I wouldn’t feel right selling items that are not sustainably produced or came from abused garment workers. And I know it would probably be easier to sell those things because they’re cheaper, but that’s not me. I don’t stand with fast fashion. I stand with brands that care about people and the environment while still making gorgeous pieces. I stand with the beauty and vintage whimsicalness of Nine Lives Bazaar along with their sustainable and ethical practices. I stand with slow fashion, and I’m proud to carry brands that do too.
